I have been a counsellor for thirty years now, and more recently a professional supervisor. My journey into counselling began with a deep, personal experience of loss.

Out of this, I have learnt that post-traumatic growth is not only possible, but brings with it rewards such as increased inner strength, spiritual development, and more meaningful relationships, just to name a few.

My twelve years’ cross-cultural experience in West Africa gave me an appreciation of difference and shaped my willingness to view life through the lens of others. Consequently, I approach each client without judgment, demonstrating acceptance of their lifestyle and presenting needs. As I have engaged with therapy myself, I understand the importance of warmth, acceptance, good listening, and the value of a different perspective. With clients who battle anger, anxiety or depression, I introduce Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, assisting them to grow through identifying negative thought patterns, challenging that thinking, and replacing it with healthier beliefs.

As I listen to a client’s story, I also help them recognise core beliefs from earlier years that colour their view of themselves and the world. (Schema Therapy). I currently enjoy offering supervision to counsellors, chaplains, and pastors, giving them space to de-brief, process, and learn from what happens in their work environment.
